The Vashon Sportsmen’s Club will occasionally host rifle & pistol competitions. Our current offerings are:

Vashon Sportsmen’s Club Steel Plate Match

The VSC Steel Plate Match is a safe and family friendly competition for pistol and rimfire rifles. It is held on the VSC pistol range and is open to VSC members and their families. VSC limits on the number of guests at the range may apply.

Any caliber pistol allowed under VSC Range Rules is allowed in the match as are .22LR rimfire rifles. Rifle caliber pistols and pistol caliber rifles (other than .22LR rimfire rifles) are not allowed on the pistol range per VSC rules and therefore cannot be used. Optics are allowed but there will be separate categories for optics and iron-sighted firearms as well as revolvers, rimfire rifles, and semi-auto pistols.

As the match is a combined test of the shooter’s accuracy and speed hitting steel plates at 25 yards, common rimfire pistols and rifles owned by almost all shooters can be very competitive and may even have an advantage in comparison to many centerfire pistols.

Drawing from a holster is not allowed.

In addition to a suitable firearm, hearing protection, eye protection, and a minimum of 30 rounds of ammunition is required.

Sign-up begins on the schedule day at 8:30 AM. The match begins at 9 AM. The estimated time of completion is no more than 2 hours.
