Safe enjoyment of the
great outdoors is a number one priority at the Vashon Sportsmen's
Club.Range Master Class
All new members joining after February 1998 are required
to take a Range Master & orientation course before using our range.
The class is given on the last Saturday of every odd numbered month
from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. The class is taught by N.R.A. Certified Range
Safety Officers, and the class usually lasts about 3 hours. Call
Fred Hansen @ 463-4079 for more information.
Hunter Education
We have three Certified
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Hunter Education
instructors, and our 18-20 hour course is given once a year in May.
There is no charge for the class, and anyone may participate. All
persons born after January 1st, 1972 are required to attend and
successfully complete a hunter education class before they are eligible to
buy a hunting license. Call Chief Instructor Phil Volker @ 463-5253 for more
information. More details on the class are available
here.
N.R.A. Classes
The Vashon Sportsmen's Club has nearly a dozen active
N.R.A. Certified instructors who are credentialed in a variety of
disciplines. Throughout the year (see calendar)
our club provides the membership, and our community at large, with the
opportunity to learn safe ownership, use, and storage of their
firearms. We feature classes in Home Firearms
Safety, Rifle, Pistol,
Shotgun, Personal Protection, Range Safety, and special
orientation-style classes like Women On Target, and
Refuse To Be A
Victim. These classes are available for a nominal fee (free in some
cases) and they are an ongoing part of our club's 70+ year dedication
to safe enjoyment of the outdoors. Call Chief Instructor Phil Mahurin @ 408-7009 for
more information.
